About the data

How we collect auction data

Collection process

1

Discovery

Each auctioneer's forthcoming and completed sales are discovered automatically. New auctions are detected within hours of being announced.

2

Scraping

Completed lot results are collected after each auction closes. We capture the hammer price, all available specifications, and photographs.

3

Enrichment

Where result pages contain additional detail — descriptions, condition notes, service history references — this is extracted and stored against the listing.

4

Tagging

AI analysis identifies maintenance work, restoration history, and modifications mentioned in listing descriptions. These are stored as searchable tags.

Monthly reports

At the start of each month we publish market reports for every major classic car make. Each report summarises the previous month's auction activity: median prices, volume, notable results, and month-on-month price movement.

Limitations

Prices shown are hammer prices and do not include buyer's premium. Currency conversion for non-GBP results uses approximate rates. A small number of results may have incomplete specifications where the original listing did not provide them. Private treaty sales and non-auction transactions are not included.
